It will retail at RM 129,800 (On the road price).
Had to say it's a rather good value proposition, especially when you consider that the locally assembled 2.0S model retails at RM 128k. An extra RM1k gets you a next generation powertrain and CBU Japan quality. The Civic Hybrid is assembled at Honda's plant in Suzuka, Japan.
No indication on the Insight II's introduction in Asia Pacific. I reckon most of the allocation for the year will be focused on meeting the demands from Japan, Europe and North American markets first.
Or, you can wait till the last quarter of this year when local Toyota distributor UMW Toyota Motor will officially launch the 3rd generation Prius in Malaysia. Generally, Prius is positioned higher than Civic Hybrid. So expect prices to be higher than the Civic Hybrid, but probably lower than a mid range Camry 2.0G which currently retails at around RM 150k. It is quite ridiculous should the 3rd generation Prius be positioned that far away from the Civic Hybrid, though Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive is a lot more complicated and costlier to build.
