2009 Honda City price

Prices of the 2009 Honda City have already been released in both Singapore and Thailand, where deliveries of the 3rd generation City have already started. While Malaysia and the rest of Asia Pacific, including Malaysia will have to wait until late January for their chance to get into the Honda's latest entry level model.

Most drivers from Malaysia are wondering about the price of this model. Looking at prices in Thailand and Singapore will be able to give us a fairly good estimate.

In Singapore, (based on Sept. 2008 COE) the entry level City i-VTEC Manual starts at SGD 62,300, stretching all the way to SGD 66,000 for the highest specs LX version. The Singaporean Vios on the other hand starts from SGD 56,988 for the basic 1.5J manual which rises to SGD 59,988 for the 1.5G Auto.

In Thailand the base model City S Manual starts at 550,00 Baht while the top of the range SV tops out at 705,000 Baht. Meanwhile the Vios starts at 499,000 Baht for the 1.5J Manual while the top line 1.5S Limited retails at 699,000 Baht. And by the way, the 1.5S Limited Vios comes with far higher specs than either Malaysian, Indonesian or Singapore models. It comes with a engine start-stop ignition button, HID headlamps and leather seats!

So looking at both neighbouring countries, its is very likely that there will a rather significant price premium between the Vios and City in Malaysia. So if you are tight on budget, don't bother waiting any longer...

Also, it is interesting to note that the Singaporean City comes with a CD player, where as the Thai specs model do not. More details on the specs differences can be found at Singapore's Kah Motor website's online brochure.

Note the CD player on Singaporean City. USB port for portable MP3 players is still retained.

Thai specs City audio, without CD-player but is iPod / portable MP3 player compatible.

Singapore offers two interior colour options (beige or black). I am not sure about Thailand but I think black is for the topline SV specs.

Finding out the Thai City specs will be a bit of a challenge unless you read Thai. Google translator will not be able to help you out because the contents run on Flash.
